    • Health Care Specialists are trained to provide emergency medical care on the battlefield and in other settings. Their training includes:

    • Basic Combat Training (BCT): All soldiers start with this training, which covers fundamental soldiering skills and physical fitness.

    • Advanced Individual Training (AIT): Following BCT, 68W soldiers attend AIT at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, where they learn medical procedures, trauma care, patient assessment, and basic nursing skills.

    • Once trained, Health Care Specialists are essential in providing medical care to soldiers during combat and peacekeeping missions, ensuring the health and readiness of military personnel in various environments. Their role is critical in both routine medical situations and in saving lives during emergencies.

    • Combat Lifesaver Course: This training provides additional skills for Medics to manage trauma in combat situations, emphasizing the ability to operate in high-stress environments.

    • Specialized Training: Medics may also receive further training in areas such as advanced trauma life support, pediatric care, and emergency medical evacuation procedures.
