    • The Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) is a prestigious military decoration awarded by the United States Army. It is given to infantrymen and Special Forces soldiers who have actively engaged in ground combat while serving in an infantry or Special Forces unit.

       

      The badge was established in 1943 during World War II to recognize the unique challenges and dangers faced by infantry soldiers.  The CIB features an infantry rifle on a blue background with laurel leaves, symbolizing achievement and bravery. It is awarded to soldiers in the rank of colonel or below who have demonstrated exceptional bravery and heroism in combat operations. 

       

      The Combat Infantry Badge (CIB) is a prestigious honor awarded exclusively to infantrymen—often referred to as "Legs", "Grunts", " Eleven Bravo", "11B", or "Eleven Bang Bang" —who are the backbone of the Army. Earning the CIB is a significant achievement, representing their direct engagement in combat and the courage to face dangerous situations. While many of these soldiers may not openly boast about their accomplishment, the badge symbolizes their bravery and sacrifice.
